i give Sean "Puff Daddy" (or is that "P. Diddy"?) Combs many props for his business savvy, with some apprehension (stay tuned for "The Lost Bad Boy"). honored multiple times by the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) for his Sean John apparel line, he has built a solid brand that may have been created for urban appeal initially, but has seamlessly earned mainstream attention.
this Fashion Week Flashback is a review of the Fall 2008 Sean John Collection that was shown last February. Combs took a bold risk by using all ethnic models for this show. yet, considering the belief that states, "the greater the risk, the greater the reward", the reward here was that, during a time when designers were challenged with regard to their lack of black models, he made history.
approving this collection, on the other hand, may have been an even greater risk. after seeing the show earlier this year, it seemed as if the Fall '08 line had taken direction from some women's styles with its midriff sweaters, fringes, and raised jacket sleeves. even the most confident, most stylish, and most risque [straight] man might have trouble pulling off this look.
if none of these looks work for your Fall wardrobe, you can always try the uber-popular "NO BITCHASSNESS" tees sold at SeanJohn.com.
